Senate ratified Kazakhstan-China Agreement on gas pipeline construction
Presenting the bill Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sauat Mynbayev noted the document which was signed August 18, 2007 in Astana aimed at development of long-term cooperation on transportation of the Turkmen and Kazakh gas via new pipelines on the territory of Kazakhstan and China. According to him, Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline consists of two sections. The first section runs from Uzbekistan to Horgos through Shymkent. 40 bln cubic meters of gas are expected to be transported via it. The second pipeline passes the route Beineu-Bozoi-Kyzylorda-Shymkent. 10 bln cubic meters of gas will be transported by it annually.
"Construction of the gas pipeline will allow providing two million citizens of southern regions with natural gas", S. Mynbayev said.
