Senate Speaker Ashimbayev meets Chinese expert community
A meeting of Kazakhstan’s parliamentary delegation with the expert community and Kazakh students studying in China focused on the new formats and mechanisms of cooperation, a Kazinform correspondent reports.
According to the Speaker of the Kazakh Senate, Maulen Ashimbayev, constructive cooperation and mutual respect for the two countries’ interests open new horizons for joint projects and promotes the solution of pressing issues.
“Throughout the past years, Kazakhstan has been promoting the policy of constructive interaction and cooperation to mitigate and address the pressing global and regional problems. Kazakhstan remains committed to its foreign policy principles: multivectorness, pragmatism, respect for other countries’ interests, search for constructive ways of solution of pressing international problems. Such a balanced position enables Kazakhstan both to adapt to global challenges and to contribute to the formation of a new world order. Kazakhstan also gradually promotes the policy of constructive cooperation in the Central Asian region. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reiterates the importance of strengthening close regional cooperation. This not only paves the way for the region’s development, but also contributes to raising identity of the entire Central Asia in international relations,” Ashimbayev concluded.
Zhao Huasheng, professor of Institute of International Studies, Fudan University, noted that being the largest economy in Central Asia, Kazakhstan has been a major trade partner of China. In his words, this proves the importance of the Kazakh-Chinese relations and demonstrates direct and potential opportunities for further bilateral development.
According to him, the two countries’ economies are regarded as complementary. He noted that Kazakhstan and China cooperate in the field of IT and digital economy, industrial modernization and in other high-tech areas.
“This is not just a traditional trade, Kazakhstan's economy keeps pace with the world trends,” the Chinese expert added.
Recall that earlier, Speaker of the Kazakh Parliament’s Senate Maulen Ashimbayev met with Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji, Head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee Shi Taifeng and Chinese religious leaders.
