Senate Speaker holds meeting with participants of ‘Marathon of memory’ campaign
The action involves veterans of the Great Patriotic War, deputies and members of the IPA CIS, Kazinform refers to the press service of the Senate. Mr. Tokayev stressed that participation in the "Marathon of memory" is an honorable mission for Kazakhstan. The Speaker of the Senate noted that "the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the bloodiest war in human history is a total victory of the Soviet people over fascism." He also informed that the Great Patriotic War involved over 1, 5 million Kazakhstani people, 500 of them were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, four of them were double Heroes of the Soviet Union, over one hundred became full holders of the Order of Glory. Mr. Tokayev said that on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev there has been approved a special plant of activities to mart the 70th anniversary of the victory. On the eve 2015 Kazakhstan carried out the nationwide campaign of the President of Kazakhstan called "Honor of the victory." The action's participants expressed their gratitude to Kazakhstan for its support and noted the importance of patriotic education of youth to preserve the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War. Discussing the issues of cooperation in the IPA CIS Mr. Tokayev stressed that Kazakhstan is interested in further strengthening the role of the Assembly. Mr. Tokayev also informed the delegation of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly on the activity of the Eurasian Economic Union, implementation of Nurly Zhol program, upcoming celebration of the 20th anniversary of the People's Assembly. In conclusion the Senate's Speaker focused on the five institutional reforms voiced by the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev at the Congress of Nur Otan Party. Later, members of the IPA CIS action "Marathon of memory" have met in Parliament with the chairman of the Majilis Kabibulla Dzhakupov. Today's meeting in the Majilis has been attended by parliamentarians from Russia - Irshat Fakhritdinov, Azerbaijan - Rufat Guliyev, Armenia - Tigran Urikhanyan, Kyrgyzstan - Nurbek Murashev, Belarus - Victor Kogut. Kazakhstan's side has been represented by the chairman of the Majilis on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security Maulen Ashimbayev and a member of the Majilis Committee on Agrarian issues Zheksenbai Duisebayev. According to the press service of the Majilis, Astana is the eighth city on the route of the campaign. It was launched on March 11 in the capital of Belarus - Minsk. The campaign has already been held in Baku, Kishinev, Yerevan, Bishkek, Dushanbe and Moscow. Soon the participants of the relay will arrive in St. Petersburg.
