Senate Speaker meets ODIHR delegation
ASTANA. April 28. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Kazakh Senate Speaker Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has met with a delegation of the the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights; Kazinform reports.

K.Tokayev told about a course of preparation for the upcoming chairmanship in the OSCE. ?Within the framework of a presentation of ?Path to Europe? program in Vienne I determined our priorities of cooperation with ODIHR. We support the main directions and activities of the ODIHR and closely cooperate in several directions?, the Senate Speaker said.
Heading the delegation, ODIHR Director Janez Lenarcic noted that the chairmanship in the OSCE gives an opportunity to improve Kazakhstan?s image and enhance its role at the international scene. Kazakhstan should adhere to the OSCE liabilities, the most important part of which is in the humanitarian dimension.
?This dimension, in which the ODIHR Office functions ? the central institution of the OSCE. Our main direction is monitoring and support of the member-states, control over fulfillment of obligations in the sphere of human rights and ensuring rule of law?, Janez Lenarcic said.
The Director emphasized that Kazakhstan can count on the support of the ODIHR during the chairmanship in the OSCE.
