ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Senator of Kazakhstan Kuanysh Aitakhanov proposed to build a monument to the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate and open a museum dedicated to it.

"This year, we are going to mark the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate. The capital city of the Kazakh Khanate was Turkestan. Many historic events took place there and the events dedicated to celebration of the 550 anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate should be held there as well," K. Aitakhanov said at the Senate sitting. According to him, 21 Kazakh khans and other prominent figures of the nation are buried in Turkestan. "Therefore, it would be very symbolic and significant to open a museum on the threshold of the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate," he proposes. Besides, Aitakhanov proposed to organize several cultural events and forums on the threshold of the 550th anniversary. "We could organize a scientific and theoretical conference in Turkestan, erect a monument to the Kazakh Khanate and open a museum, hold a forum," the Senator added.
