Senators discuss bill on provision of tariff preferences within Customs Union

ASTANA.  November 4. KAZINFORM  /Serik Sabekov/ Draft law  On ratification of the Protocol on provision of tariff preferences has been considered at an enlarged sitting of the Finance and Budget Committee of the Senate today.

The bill aims at  ratification of the Protocol on provision of tariff preferences signed Dec 12, 2008 in Moscow and directs on formation of the legal base of the Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus.

The Protocol was elaborated with the aim of implementing the Agreement on single customs-tariff regulation.

According to the authors of the bill, application of the tariff preferences means exemption from payments or lowering import customs duties as well as their application in cases not provided for by the Agreement.

In accordance with the Protocol the Commission carries out comparative analysis of the legislations of the member countries regarding provision of tariff preferences and organizes negotiations in order to reach agreements regarding the cases of application of the non-anticipated preferences.
