Seoul hosts presentation of book "Brotherly Nation of Kazakhstan"

On the eve of Kazakhstan’s Independence Day,  Seoul hosted a presentation of the book titled “Brotherly Nation of Kazakhstan. The book was authored by Son Chi Geun, former Consul General of Korea in Almaty, in collaboration with Cho Eun Jung, with support from the Korean Diplomatic Association, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

Those attending the event were diplomats, representatives of academic and business communities, cultural organizations, and media from both countries.

In his welcoming speech, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Korea, Nurgali Arystanov, expressed profound gratitude to the authors for their years of effort and invaluable contribution to fostering mutual understanding between the two nations. The Ambassador highlighted that this book serves as a rich source of knowledge about Kazakhstan, covering a wide range of topics – from its rich history and culture to modern opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

The Kazakh diplomat also emphasized the strong partnership between Kazakhstan and Korea. In 2024, bilateral relations were bolstered by several key events, including the visit of the President of Korea to Kazakhstan, the first overseas trip of the Speaker of Korea’s National Assembly to Kazakhstan after his election, as well as the official visit of Kazakhstan's Minister of Foreign Affairs and other ministerial visits to Korea.

The author, Son Chi Geun, shared that it took him more than 10 years to complete the book. He was inspired by Kazakhstan’s hospitality and warm atmosphere. Exploring the similarities in traditions, lifestyle, and history of the two nations, he concluded that Kazakhs and Koreans are indeed brotherly peoples.

Former Korean Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Baik Joo Hyeon, added that the tolerance and generosity of the Kazakh people played a pivotal role in the fate of many ethnic groups, including Korean migrants, who found their new home in Kazakhstan.

The event concluded with discussions on the importance of cultural exchanges between the two nations. The participants unanimously emphasized the significance of such projects in raising awareness about the culture, history, and cooperation prospects between Kazakhstan and Korea, as well as boosting tourism exchanges.

Overall, the presentation of “Brotherly Nation of Kazakhstan” became a vital symbol of strengthening friendly relations and shared aspirations for advancing the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Korea.
