Serena Williams beats Voskoboeva, Shvedova of Kazakhstan out of US Open

NEW YORK. September 1. KAZINFORM The World №1 defeated Kazakhstan's tennis player Yaroslava Shvedova in two straight sets 6:3, 6:1.

Shvedova is out of the 2013 US Open after Round 3, Kazinform has learnt from Vesti.kz.

She was the second Kazakh tennis star ousted by the defending champion as the top-seeded Williams routed Galina Voskoboeva, also from Kazakhstan, in Round 2.

In the fourth-round match Serena Williams will meet with her compatriot №15 Sloane Stephens for a spot in the quarterfinals.
