Serik Akhmetov attends 4th meeting of Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Council

BISHKEK. November 1. KAZINFORM - 4th meeting of Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Council co-chaired by Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov has taken place in Bishkek today, according to primeminister.kz.

The sides discussed the status and prospects for development of cooperation in the water power sector, financial and investment sphere, agro-industrial complex, transport industry.
Akhmetov emphasized the importance of the meeting. According to him, it "will give an additional impetus to bilateral relations."
The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan noted "the mutual desire of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan to address urgent issues on water and energy sector, gas, transport, agriculture, environmental problems."

"During the previous meeting we identified the promising areas of joint work to deepen trade and economic cooperation. I think that in the course of this meeting we will discuss all these issues and find a mutually beneficial solution," Akhmetov said.
Zhantoro Satybaldiyev noted the relevance of the Intergovernmental Council meeting agenda, which reflected the trends of socio-economic development of the two countries.

Satybaldiyev named the priority areas of bilateral cooperation with Kazakhstan. "We are interested in the supply of natural gas from Kazakhstan, supply of oil and oil products. Kyrgyzstan is interested in development of cooperation with Kazakhstan in the sphere of efficient use of water, electricity exports, parallel operation of the power system," the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan stressed.

A Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan and Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, and a protocol of the 4th meeting of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Council were signed after the meeting.

The next fifth session of the Intergovernmental Council will be held in 2014 in Astana.
