Serik Sapiyev appointed head of Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Karaganda region
A meeting of the commission on appointment of heads of regional sports departments was held in Astana under the chairmanship of Kazakh Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabossynov, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to the Ministry’s press service, the meeting focused on evaluating candidates for senior roles in the departments of physical culture and sports in the Karaganda and Pavlodar regions.
The Commission approved the candidacy of Serik Sapiyev, the boxing champion of the 2012 London Olympics, for the position of head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Karaganda region. Additionally, the Commission approved the candidacy of Azamat Imashev, the deputy chairman of the Committee on Sports and Physical Culture of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for the position of head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Pavlodar region.
During the committee meeting, the candidates were asked about their professional experience, their plans to develop sports in the region, and their knowledge of sports science and management.
“At a meeting with medalists of the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games, the Head of State drew attention to the problem of regions deciding on their own which sports to develop. In this regard, the President instructed the Government to restore the management vertical in sports at all levels. Now candidates for senior positions in regional sports departments are approved by the Commission established under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” said Yerbol Myrzabossynov.
