Several documents signed within meeting of Kazakh-Finnish Coop Commission

ASTANA. February 26. KAZINFORM The 6th session of the Kazakh-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation was held in Helsinki, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

The Kazakh delegation was headed by Deputy Premier - Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev, the Finnish delegation - Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen.

On February 23 the sides exchanged views on state and prospects of the bilateral cooperation, discussed issues of extending interaction in the spheres of energy efficiency, transfer of new technologies, engineering, agriculture, energy, healthcare and education. The Head of the Kazakh delegation said that the Finnish experience in innovations development, engineering, chemical and metallurgical industries was of special interest for Kazakhstan.

A.Issekeshev specified the potential areas for foreign investments and called the Finnish side to use new opportunities provided by the Customs Union establishment through building productive capacities.

The Kazakh delegation got familiarized with Finnish companies "Twinspark" and "Business of Oulu".

The representatives of the Kazakh Ministry held a number of meetings with representatives of the state bodies of Finland addressing the issues of energy audit, cooperation between the small and medium business entities in innovative development.

A range of documents was signed within the session of the Commission. In particular, JSC "Engineering and Technology Transfer Center" signed a letter of intent for cooperation with companies "Twinspark" and "Business of Oulu". Besides, "Kazakhstan Industrial Corporation" LLC and "Outotec" Finnish company signed a memo on construction of a hydrometallurgical complex on processing of metallurgical slags.
