He was born in Aktobe oblast. In his poetry he praised the events of the national liberation movement headed by Issatai Taimanuly and Makhambet Utemissuly. His poem ?Ai, Kazy bi!? appeals judges to justice and humanity. In poems ?Tostagandy kolga alyp? (?Taking a cup in hand?) and ?Soz soileimin bolmelep? (?I speak by snatches?) he raises philosophic questions. Some poems of his tell about merits and demerits of Baimagambet Sultan. Sherniyar wrote many poems about Issatai batyr. His poems tell about bravery of Issatai, depicting him as an outstanding figure. At present the akyn?s poems are well-known and studied in schools and universities. Creativity of Sherniyaz Zharylgassuly and his contribution to the development of Kazakh art of writing areinvaluable. Sherniyaz died in 1867 and was buried in Atyrau oblast.
