Shootout at Kyrgyz-Uzbek border leaves one injured

BISHKEK. KAZINFORM - Shootout near Ala-Buka border detachment at the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan border took place on January 18, according to the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan.

Three Uzbekistanis were illegally hunting on the Kyrgyz territory in Ala-Buka district. When requested to lay down the guns, the Uzbek nationals opened fire on the Kyrgyz border guards. One of the illegal hunters was was injured in a shootout. The other two hunters were detained by the Uzbek border guards in an attempt to escape the scene. A wounded citizen of Uzbekistan has received needed medical aid. In accordance with the previously reached agreements, the wounded intruder of the state border and three hunting guns of the citizens of Uzbekistan were handed over to the Uzbek border guards who arrived at the scene.
