Simplification of visa regime for Kazakhstanis discussed in Luxembourg

Deputy prime minister – foreign minister of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu took part in the 20th anniversary meeting of the Cooperation Council Republic of Kazakhstan – European Union, Kazinform Agency correspondent reports.

Representing the European delegation was José Manuel Albares Bueno, Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, chairing the EU Council.

Earlier, Murat Nurtleu personally met with High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, reviewing the multifaceted interaction between Kazakhstan and European Union and discussing the practical realization of the Expanded Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.

Special attention was attached to the issues of energy, transport and logistics, digitalization, civil aviation, simplification of visa regime, as well as extraction and use of critical raw materials.

In his speech, the head of the Kazah foreign ministry stressed the strategic nature of cooperation with the European Union.

We’ve achieved the high-level interaction in many areas and seek its further expansion. Kazakhstan is ready to be a reliable partner for the EU in the Central Asian region in the future, said Nurtleu.

The meeting’s participants welcomed the beginning of the consultations on the simplification of visa requirements for Kazakhstanis. The Kazakh side invited the delegation of the European Commission to Astana to hold the next round of consultations.
