Six districts of E Kazakhstan rgn at risk of flooding, Kazhydromet
UST-KAMENOGORSK. KAZINFORM - According to preliminary estimates of Kazhydromet experts, six districts of East Kazakhstan region are at risk of flooding, said deputy chief of the regional Emergency Department Alexander Lomygin.
According to him, on weekend mercury will rise to +20°C. Despite the fact that the situation in the region is under control, 45 settlements of 6 districts are at risk of flooding. These rural areas include Beskaragai, Glubokovskiy, Zyryanovskiy, Katon-Karagai, Kokpekty and Shemonaikha. According to Mr.Lomygin the Department of Emergency has formed six groups of a total of more than 250 people. In general, the situation in the region is stable. Spring flood is expected in late April - early May. If there is no heavy and intense rainfall the flooding will be avoided, said Vladimir Ushakov, head of Kazhydromet department for water resources research.
