Six people die in residential building fire in St Petersburg

ST PETERSBURG. December 15. KAZINFORM Six people, among them two children, died in a heavy fire that broke out in a residential building in the city's Central District on the night from Monday to Tuesday. Another seven people got poisoned with carbon monoxide, Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.

An official at the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (RME) department for St Petersburg has told Itar-Tass, "A message about a fire on 11, Kolokolnaya Ulitsa (Bell Street) came to the Fire Department at 03:36, Moscow time. A third-floor apartment in a five-storey building caught fire". The blaze rapidly spread over to two fourth-floor apartments and farther on to the attic.

Four adults and two children died in the blaze. Seven people, among them two children, got poisoned with carbon monoxide and were hospitalized. Thirteen occupants of the house were evacuated, Kazinform cites Itar-Tass. See www.itar-tass.com for full version.
