Six workers injured during repair works at Ridder Thermal Power Plant

According to the East Kazakhstan region’s akimat, the incident occurred during welding works on a fuel supply conveyor belt, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Six workers were injured as a result of a dust-air mixture explosion at the Ridder Thermal Power Plant.

Governor Yermek Kosherbayev arrived at the scene.

“All those injured were taken to the hospital, their condition is evaluated  as stable. The plant is operating as usual, restoration work is underway,” the governor said.

An investigation has been launched.

Earlier, Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev, announced delays in the scheduled repairs at thermal power plants in several regions of Kazakhstan.
