Slovenia's Maritime region keen on developing cooperation with Kazakhstan

In order to establish business and cultural ties, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Slovenia Daniyar Sarekenov made a working visit to Koper, the administrative center of the southern region of Slovenia, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from the press service of the Kazakh MFA.

During the meeting with the Mayor of Koper city, Aleš Bržan, an exchange of views took place on the establishment of economic, cultural and humanitarian ties. The ambassador of Kazakhstan informed the management of Koper about measures to support SMEs, development of agriculture and modernization of transport infrastructure, introduction of digital technologies, provision of preferences and subsidies for investors in the priority sectors of the Kazakh economy. The parties also discussed the possibilities of establishing regional cooperation and signing an agreement on twinning relations between Aktau and Koper.

At meetings with the leadership of the largest Mediterranean container port Luka Koper and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the region, the transit and transport opportunities of Kazakhstan, measures of state support for foreign investors, and promising areas for business cooperation were presented.

Ambassador Sarekenov invited the management of the Port of Luka Koper to join the Association of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, and the companies of the region to cooperate with Astana Hub, the largest international technopark of IT startups in Central Asia.

The interlocutors also noted that there is significant potential for effective cooperation in bilateral trade and economic cooperation, especially in the fields of logistics, transport and tourism.

Earlier it was reported that the Kazakh Embassy issued a statement following the stiffening of the immigration policy rules in the U.S. reportedly aimed at strengthening the country’s border security and reducing unlawful migration.
