Snezhana Kashkarova, 13, shines at Kazakhstan Weightlifting Championship
Taldykorgan is hosting the individual-and-team weightlifting championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan among men and women, Kazinform News Agency cites the Directorate of Sports Development's press service.
A total of 212 athletes (136 men and 76 women) from 17 regions participate in the championship. The opening ceremony was held on November 13, when the first medals were awarded.
According to tournament’s organizers, 13-year-old Snezhana Kashkarova was sensationally granted the Master of Sport International Class title, which is considered a remarkable accomplishment at such a young age.
“From 6 to 15 December, the men's and women's national teams of Kazakhstan will participate in the 2024 IWF World Weightlifting Championships in Bahrain. Some competitors in the World Cup are currently in Taldykorgan, participating in the tournament. Subsequently, the national championship team will embark on a traveling training camp in Bahrain. This is a crucial step in ensuring the team's acclimatization to the local climate and food. Based on the outcomes of the championship in Taldykorgan, the coaching staff of the national team intends to identify the most capable and promising athletes for the forthcoming season,” Vice President of the Weightlifting Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Gadzhi Gadzhiev, said.

3. Yasmin Zhumatayeva (Abay region) - 94kg (42+52).

1. Ainur Abdykalykova (Zhambyl region) - 143 kg (63+80)
2. Nursezim Abatkyzy (Ulytau region) - 137 kg (60+77)
3. Victoria Murashkina (Kostanay region) - 120 kg (50+70)
Men (55kg)
1. Anatoliy Grubov (Zhetysu region) - 229 kg (110+119)
2. Nurbol Eshimbekov (Karaganda region) - 218 kg (95+123)
3. Danil Korchagin (Akmola region) - 212kg (96+116)
The Kazakhstan Weightlifting Championship among men and women is set to run till November 19.
It was previously announced that the Kazakh epée fencing team has made significant progress in the world rankings, moving closer to the top three.
