Snow batters Kostanay region Nov 6
Residents of the Kostanay region and the regional center woke up to the snowy morning. Over 250 road workers and 85 units of special equipment have been deployed to clear the city streets of snow starting from 8:00 am, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The public utilities of Kostanay are operating in an emergency mode due to heavy snowfall.
According to the city akimat, anti-icing compounds are used to coat the surfaces of local roads. Snow is being removed from streets, roads and pavements. A total of 40 tons of sand and salt mixture have been used to cover streets by 11:00 am.
It is noted that the work of road services will be adjusted in accordance with weather conditions.
The akimat urges residents and visitors to observe safety rules and exercise caution.
