SOCHI. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstani skater Denis Kuzin rushed to finish ninth in men's speed skating 1,500-meter race at the XXII Olympic Winter Games, ‘'Kazinform'' correspondent reports from Sochi.

Kazakh athlete Dmitry Babenko started 10th paired with Frenchman Benjamin Masse. Dmitry's time was 1 minute 48.67 seconds, thus, he finished 10th.

Alexander Zhigin and Fedor Mezencev gained 14 and 15 places.

An unexpected situation occurred during the competition, Pole Zbigniew Brudka and Dutchman Kun Verwey have shared the first place coming to the finish line in 1 minute 45 seconds. Judges had to decipher the thousandth of a second - 1:45:006 against 1:45.009 respectively. With this calculation, first place went to the athlete from Poland. "Bronze" was taken by Canadian Danny Morrison.
