Sochi Olympics bronze medalist Denis Ten to be honored in Astana

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - Figure skater Denis Ten who won a historic bronze medal for Kazakhstan at the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi will be honored in Astana on February 26.

Ten has returned to Almaty city from Sochi this morning and has been greeted by a crowd of fans at the Almaty International Airport.

"If you have a dream or a goal, follow it. No matter what. Believe in yourself and be persistent," Ten told his fans when asked about what sport had taught him.

After clinching the first ever Olympic medal in figure skating for Kazakhstan, the 20-year-old Ten is expected to be celebrated in the Kazakh capital and receive a cash bonus. It has not been revealed who will award the prize during the ceremony in Astana.

As reported earlier, the National Olympic Committee said it would pay a monetary bonus worth of USD 75 000 for a bronze medal.

The committee also promised cash incentives for gold and silver medals - USD 250 000 and 150 000 respectively.
