Some 80 women die annually due to domestic abuse in Kazakhstan
Annually no less than 80 women die in Kazakhstan due to domestic abuse, head of the service for the protection of public interests of the Kazakh Prosecutor General’s Office Marat Abishev said, Kazinform Agency reports.
Every year 150 women receive grave bodily injuries in domestic violence-related incidents, while 200 receive moderate and over 4,000 mild physical injuries. Police record some 300 reports every single day, including physical abuse against children and women, and inflicting disability and homicides.
He stressed for the past 10 months, 50,000 were subjected to administrative liability, and 700 were convicted of criminal offenses countrywide.
In his words, the said figures underreport the real picture. According to experts, each third woman in Kazakhstan faces systematic beatings, threats, and psychological abuse.
