Sowing season kicks off in Kazakhstan
"According to preliminary data, in 2015 cultivated crops will be located on an area of 21.5 hectares, which is 0.1 million hectares more than in 2014. Crops will be planted on an area of 15.2 million hectares, including wheat - 12.2 million hectares. Oilseeds will cover an area of 2.2 million hectares. Feed crops will cover 3.7 million hectares," informed Mr.Omarov. According to his words, Agriculture Ministry and regional Akimats have signed memoranda providing reduction of wheat cultivation areas and increase of areas for planting fodder, bean and cereal crops. "As part of diversification it is expected to reduce wheat cultivation area to the level of 2014 - 235 thousand hectares," he explained. According to Agriculture Ministry, this year there has been allocated 60 billion tenge for spring field works, which is 20 billion more in the last year.
