Speakers of SCO member states to meet in St Petersburg in May

MOSCOW. April 4. KAZINFORM Speakers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries will convene in St. Petersburg in May, Federation Council Vice-Speaker and SCO Business Council Chairman Dmitry Mezentsev and Uzbek Ambassador to Russia Ilkh Nematov said on Friday.

The forum?s agenda is being drafted; it will focus on economic issues, Mezentsev said. ?We want the most open, business-like and constructive cooperation between parliaments of SCO member countries,? he noted. Mezentsev discussed the upcoming forum during his visits to China, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. ?It is necessary to optimize cooperation between CIS member countries in order not to duplicate interstate projects and events,? the ambassador said. Russia-Uzbekistan economic cooperation and the migration policy were other items on the agenda, Kazinform cites ITAR-TASS.
