Special Envoy of Kazakh Sec of State-Foreign Minister meets OIC Sec Gen in Jeddah

ASTANA. November 11. KAZINFORM Special Envoy of Kazakh Secretary of State-Minister of Foreign Affairs Bagdat Amreyev has met with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in Jeddah, a press release of the Kazakh Permanent Mission to the OIC reads.

The meeting was held on November 10 within the political consultations initiated by the Kazakh side with the OIC Secretary General and the leading states of the Muslim world on drafting a program of the Kazakh presidency in the OIC in 2011-2012.

Ambassador B.Amreyev handed over a message of the Kazakh Foreign Minister to the OIC leader, which confirms our country's interest in deepening cooperation with the Muslim world in various spheres. Kazakhstan on the post of a moderator of political, economic and cultural aspects of the OIC activity will target on effective solution of relevant issues of the Islamic community; consolidation of the Organization's potential for strengthening international security and economic ties, and promotion of the dialogue of civilizations. Kazakhstan intends to continue the practice of active and meaningful OSCE chairmanship in the OIC as well.

Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, in turn, welcomed such approach and our country's attention to the issues regarding mutual cooperation. He confirmed intention of the OIC member states to back Kazakhstan and its initiatives on the post of a chair country of the 38th Council of the OIC Foreign Ministers.
