State of emergency lifted in Kostanay after flooding

Kostanay has officially lifted its state of emergency first declared on April 6, 2024, in response to the catastrophic floods that hit the country early this year, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

Mayor of Kostanay city Marat Zhundubayev issued an official declaration terminating the state of emergency.

Hundreds of houses as well as the city embankment were flooded after the Tobol River burst its banks, with Kolyesnyie ryady district and horticultural societies worst affected.

Up to 100 emergency houses in Kolyesnyie ryady district were demolished as part of the recovery efforts. 98 apartments for over KZT2bn were provided to those lost their homes. 14 residential buildings were erected in new micro district Kunai. So far, 97 houses out of 106 have undergone repairs.

As reported earlier, a state of emergency was declared in flood-hit districts in Kostanay region.
