Stationery maker Kokuyo to build new plant in India

OSAKA. KAZINFORM - Stationery maker Kokuyo Co. said Thursday it will invest around 1 billion yen to build a new plant in the state of Maharashtra in western India.

The move comes as Kokuyo aims to double its stationery sales in India to more than 15 billion yen by 2020. The company is planning to start operating the new plant in early 2016 to manufacture products such as writing utensils and ink. With the new plant, Kokuyo will be able to increase its output in India and cut costs by consolidating production at some of its five factories already operating in the country, it said.
