Storm alert in effect throughout Kazakhstan

17 regions of Kazakhstan as well as the cities of Astana, Almaty and Shymkent are forecast to brace for ground blizzard, fog and ice-slick on the roads, Kazinform News Agency cites Kazhydromet.

Ground blizzard is expected to sweep through the Kazakh city at nighttime.

Almaty is expected to brace for fog, ice-slick and packed snow on the roads.

Snow and snowstorms are reported to grip Akmola, Abai, Zhambyl regions.

Fog is forecast to blanket Aktobe region. High wind is set to roll through Atyrau region.

East Kazakhstan is set to face snow, snowstorms and ice-slick. High wind will gust 15-20, 23-28 m/s.

Heavy snow, ice-slick and ground blizzard are in store for Zhetysu and Ulytau regions.

East Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Mangistau regions are to wake up to foggy streets.

Snow, ground blizzard and ice-slick are to batter Karaganda, Kyzylorda regions.

Fog and ice-slick are in store for Mangistau region today.

It is expected to snow in Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, Turkistan regions.

It was earlier reported a bitterly cold weather continues to blanket Kazakhstan that will cause a further temperature decrease throughout the country over the next three days.
