Storm alert issued for all regions of Kazakhstan

Kazhydromet predicts snowstorm, foggy and icy road conditions across Kazakhstan on January 18, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Abai region will see snowstorm at night. Ground blizzard and icy road conditions are forecast in the region’s east, south and center. Wind speed may reach 15-20 meters per second, sometimes gusting to 23 meters per second in the region’s west, north and center.

Ground blizzard and snowstorm will hit west, north and east of Akmola region.

Black ice will form on the roads of Aktobe region’s west and south.

Fog and ice slick are predicted for the north, south and east of Almaty region.

Low drifting snow, foggy and icy road conditions are forecast for Atyrau region’s north, south and east.

East and north of East Kazakhstan region will face heavy precipitation (primarily, snow), snowstorm and ice slick, with wind speed reaching 15-20 meters per second in the north and east.

Foggy and icy road conditions are forecast in Zhambyl region’s north and south as well as in district areas. Gusting wind up to 15-20 meters per second will hit mountainous districts on January 18-19.

Black ice will form on the roads of Zhetysu region’s north in the daytime.

West Kazakhstan region will brace for ground blizzard and ice slick.

Low drifting snow and ice slick are expected at night in the north and east of Karaganda region. Icy road conditions are forecast  in the west, north and east in the daytime. Fog will blanket the region’s east and south.

East and southeast of Kostanay region will face low drifting snow, with fog spreading in the west, north and east of the region.

Northern, eastern and central districts of Kyzylorda region will see fog and ice slick.

Mangistau region’s western, northern and central areas will brace for low drifting snow, fog and ice slick.

Ground blizzard will also hit north and east of Pavlodar region.

Fog will spread in the North Kazakhstan region’s west at night and in the morning, with ground blizzard to strike the region’s east and north.

Heavy precipitation (rain and snow) will batter Turkistan region’s mountainous districts at night. Ice slick is expected in the region too. Foggy conditions are predicted for the region’s north, west, south and mountainous districts. Wind speed in mountain passes may reach 15-20 meters per second.

Black ice will form on the roads of Ulytau region’s north, east and south in the daytime.
