Students and workers were staying at Almaty hostel that caught fire

Students and young workers were staying at the hostel that caught fire early Thursday morning in Almaty, governor of Almaky district Aidar Zhakybayev said, Kazinform News Agency reports.

International students of the medical university from Pakistan and India are also among those staying at the hostel, he added.

As earlier reported, 13 people were killed in the hostel fire in Almaty. As of 08:40 a.m., 59 people were evacuated, and three of them were rushed to the hospital. Among those killed are the nationals of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia.

The governmental commission was set up to determine the cause of the fire.
