In the framework of this fair, 11 EU Member-States through their embassies (Czech Republic, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Slovakia and the United Kingdom) jointly with the EU Delegation in Kazakhstan will present a variety of education-related informational materials at their stands. In addition, the most popular educational programmes in Europe will be presented to the participants of the fair.
The opening ceremony will be held by Mr Norbert Jousten, Head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The goal of this education fair is to familiarize Kazakhstani students, university professors and the general public with educational possibilities in Europe as well as to present the EU Scholarship Programmes for citizens of Kazakhstan and Central Asia for studies at universities in the EU Member States.
In 2010, more than 140 students from Kazakhstan received scholarships under the "Erasmus Mundus" Action 2 programme. The European Union provides financing for studies of Kazakhstani students, and the sum allocated only under the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 amounts to more than 1 million EUR per year.
The second education fair will be held in Astana on 15 November with the participation of 15 diplomatic missions of the EU Member-States.
