Summer Universiade: Kazakhstan 11th on medal table

ASTANA. July 11. KAZINFORM The student team of Kazakhstan won 13 different medals and ranks11th in the team total after five days of the XXVII World Summer Universiade in Kazan, accoring to the Kazakh PM's website.

Thus, Kazakhstani athletes won 2 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals, according to the official website of the Universiade.

Weightlifter Farkhad Kharki (62 kg) grabbed gold and also set a new record in the clean and jerk event lifting 171 kilograms.

Epee fencer Ruslan Kurbanov reached the final, where he lost to his rival from China and won silver.

A bronze medal was earned by Gulnur Yerbolova (52 kg) in belt wrestling, who defeated representative of Ukraine Lyudmila Matyushenko.

Kazakh boxers Nurdaulet Zharmanov (75 kg) and Zhan Kosobutsky (+91 kg) made their way to the semi-finals.

Kazakhstan's Karina Goricheva won silver in the women's 63 kg weightlifting event.
