Sumo wrestlers exhibition performance to be held in Astana for 1st time

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The exhibition performance of sumo wrestlers will take palce in the entertainment center "Khan Shatyr" on March 17, 7 pm, the press service of the Japanese Embassy in Kazakhstan informs.

"The exhibition performance of sumo wrestlers will be held in Astana for the first time. The purpose of the event is to popularize the sport in Kazakhstan. The event will give an opportunity to people to see real sumo wrestlers, feel the atmosphere of the sport and learn more about this sport. Besides, it is planned that Kazakhstani sumo wrestler Suyenish (Kazafuzan in Japan) will also perform at the event. He's been participating in sumo tournaments in Japan for more than 10 years already," the statement reads.

The organizers of the event are the Embassy of Japan Kazakhstan, Sumo Federation of Japan with the support of the Committee of Sport and Physical Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of Kazakhstan, Astana city administration and "Kazakhstan Barysy" Federation.
