Survivor in AN-2 plane crash to make her first steps after incident
Currently, she is still in the intensive care unit, but the doctors promise to take her to a regular room. The doctors also say that Assem would have to go through a long rehabilitation course. She already has the Ilizarov frame installed, and it can be taken off in several months only. Assem also had to go undergo several surgeries in a few days. She had two closed and one open fractures, head injury, concussion and a wound shock. Moreover, yet, she will have to undergo some more surgeries. The doctors plan to perform skin transplantation. Assem Shayakhmetova was taken to the city hospital after the crash of the AN-2 plane in Zhambyl region, which she was the only one to survive among 7 people aboard. She managed to get out of snow and pieces of the crashed plane crawl with her legs being broken to one of the bodies to find a cell phone and call the rescuers. The family of Assem and herself think it was a miracle she survived that terrible incident.
