Switzerland is Kazakhstan’s important political and economic partner in Europe, Koshanov

As part of his official visit to Switzerland, Kazakh Majilis Speaker Yerlan Koshanov met with Eric Nussbaumer, the President of the National Council, the lower chamber of the Swiss Parliament, and Ignazio Cassis, the Federal Councillor for Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the Majilis press service.

Kazakh Majilis Speaker Yerlan Koshanov thanked Eric Nussbaumer for an invitation to pay an official visit to Switzerland. He said Switzerland is Kazakhstan’s important political and economic partner in Europe.

The first official visit of the Kazakh President to Switzerland paid in November 2021 opened a new chapter in bilateral ties. President of the National Council Andreas Aebi paid an official visit to Kazakhstan in August 2021. He expressed confidence today’s visit will contribute to strengthening parliamentary dialogue between the two countries.

Koshanov briefed on the President’s reforms, the work of the multiparty Majilis of the VIII convocation, and adopted laws. He affirmed Kazakhstan’s interest in developing cooperation with Switzerland in legal sphere.

The parties debated prospects for further cooperation of friendship groups, committees, and party factions, cooperation in trade and economic, transportation and logistics, ecological, educational, scientific, and research areas.

Following the meeting, the Kazakh Speaker invited Swiss Schwingen wrestlers to participate in the V World Nomad Games in Astana.

During the meeting with Ignazio Cassis, the parties debated strengthening economic ties.

Koshanov stressed Kazakhstan highly values Switzerland’s support of the country’s initiatives in the international arena, first of all, within the UN and its structures.
