Tashkent hosts Science and Atom Festival

The branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI in Tashkent hosted the Fifth Science and Atom Festival, UzA reports.

Over 200 schoolchildren and students had a unique opportunity to learn more about the application of nuclear technologies in both energy and non-energy industries and test their interest in engineering specialties in the near future.

The festival has been held in our branch for the third year in a row. As part of today’s program, you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with new technologies, dispel various myths, including in nuclear energy, and learn about the use of nuclear technologies in everyday life: this could be energy, industry, agriculture, medicine, and many other areas. If you have a passion for engineering and science if in the future you want to work in the high-tech industry of the country and you have the abilities, I encourage you to join our branch”, says Shavkat Abdukomilov, Executive Director of the branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI in Tashkent.

This year, the festival organizers have prepared an online tour of the Novovoronezh NPP – the first industrial nuclear power plant in Russia with pressurized water power reactors.

The online lecture on “Application of Nuclear Technologies in Space Technology” by Andrey Akatov, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Saint Petersburg State Institute of Technology, aroused keen interest among the guests.

A traditional part of the festival was a tour of the educational block of the branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI in Tashkent, where young guests could get acquainted with laboratory equipment, including virtual reality technologies, and also take part in a scientific show from a university teacher.
