Team Kazakhstan announces flagbearers for 2025 Winter University Games in Torino

Freestyle skier Ayaulym Amrenova and hockey player Abylaikhan Suleimenov are to be Kazakhstani flagbearers at the opening ceremony of the Torino 2025 Winter World University Games, Kazinform News Agency reports.

As the press service of the Kazakh Science and Higher Education Ministry said, Ayaulym Amrenova is one of Kazakhstan’s top freestyle skiers, boasting gold, silver and bronze medals at the FIS European Cups 2017. Ayaulym represented Kazakhstan at PyeongChang and Beijing Winter Olympics.

Abylaikhan Suleimenov is Kazakhstan’s hockey star, currently playing for Nomad HC. Abylaikhan played for the Kazakh men’s national team at the Lake Placid 2023 Winter World University Games, where the country claimed the third place.

To note, the 2025 Winter World University Games are to run from January 13 through 23 in Torino, Italy, with around 2,000 athletes from 57 countries are to compete for 96 sets of medals in 11 sports.

Earlier it was reported that 103 Kazakhstani students are to compete in the 2025 Winter University Games in Torino.
