Team Kazakhstan finishes in top three at 2024 World Weightlifting Championships in Bahrain

Team Kazakhstan has secured third place at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships among men and women held in Manama, Bahrain, from 6 to 15 December 2024, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan.

In Men’s Group A, Artyom Antropov (102kg) and Nurgisa Adiletuly (96kg) brought gold for Kazakhstan at the World Weightlifting Championships. Alexey Churkin won silver in the weight category up to 81 kg, while Alexander Uvarov settled for fifth place in his weight class of 81kg.

Kazakhstan’s Denis Poluboyarinov and Denis Ulanov pocketed the men’s 89kg gold and silver medals, respectively, in Group B. Kirill Staroverkin of Kazakhstan finished ninth in the men’s 96kg Group B weight category.

In Women’s Group A, Kazakhstan’s Aisha Omarova (76kg) and Lyubov Kovalchuk (87kg) ended up 5th and 6th, respectively.

Kazakhstan’s Ayanat Zhumagali (76kg), Arai Nurlybekova (71kg) and Karina Goricheva (64kg) finished 4th, 5th and 8th in Women’s Group B.

Earlier it was reported that Gaji Gajiyev had been named new President of the Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan.
