Tehran to host ACD conference on Monday and Tuesday
Foreign ministers from 31 Asian countries are expected to participate in the conference.
Prior to the official meeting an expert meeting will (is) be held in Tehran on Sunday (today).
The troika meeting of ACD was held in Tehran on Saturday. The troika members are the previous, current, and future heads of ACD. Iran is the current head of the ACD, Sri Lanka was the previous one and Kuwait will be the next one.
The ACD is a continent-wide forum which aims to constitute the missing link in Asia by incorporating every Asian country and building an Asian community without duplicating other organizations or creating a bloc against others. A key principle is to consolidate Asian strengths and fortify Asia's competitiveness by maximizing the diversity and rich resources evident in Asia.
ACD ministerial meetings were held in Thailand in 2002 and 2003, China 2004, Pakistan 2005, Qatar 2006, South Korea 2007, Kazakhstan 2008, and Sri Lanka 2009, Kazinform refers to Tehran Times Political Desk.
