Kazakh Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, Zhaslan Madiyev, met with representatives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and prominent U.S. companies, including Meta and Apple, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The meeting focused on data security, combating fake accounts, and user protection, which is crucial for the safety of Kazakhstani citizens in the digital space.
“We closely collaborate with Telegram to swiftly remove illicit content and block disruptive channels. In accordance with our legislation, Internet platforms such as Telegram, WhatsApp and TikTok are now obliged to have a representative in Kazakhstan. An agreement has already been reached with Telegram to appoint their representative and open an office, which represents a significant stride towards enhancing control over content,” Zhaslan Madiyev said.
On top of that, the ministry is set to collaborate with Meta to address the issue of fraudulent schemes. The fight against internet fraud is a global challenge that requires the collective efforts of all stakeholders. Representatives of Meta believe that internet fraud is a pervasive issue faced by numerous countries, including Kazakhstan. In the last quarter, Meta blocked 1.2 billion fake accounts worldwide using artificial intelligence technology.
