MOSCOW. December 13. KAZINFORM Moscow police have prevented an unauthorized rally near the Yuri Dolgoruki monument, in front of the city government's office; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.

An attempt to start the unauthorized rally was made at about 6:00 p.m. local time, a policeman told Itar-Tass. "The police demanded that the protesters must leave and warned them about punishment for illegal actions. Some left, but some stayed on the square," he said.

Ten protesters were taken into custody and brought to the Tverskoye police station.

Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov was detained in downtown Moscow on Sunday for trying to start an unauthorized march, a police source told Itar-Tass earlier.

Udaltsov started calling for a march in the city center after the end of an authorized rally of the Solidarity Movement on Pushkin Square.

"The police seized Udatsov and took him to the Tverskoye station for further investigation," the source said.
