Thailand crisis: Deadly attack on opposition rally
LONDON. KAZINFORM Gunmen have opened fire on anti-government rally in eastern Thailand, killing at least one person and wounding dozens, according to police.
The violence broke out late on Saturday in the Khao Saming district of Trat province. Attackers in two trucks threw explosives and shot at demonstrators at a rally by the People's Democratic Reform Committee, reports say. Thailand has been hit by anti-government protests since November. Children are said to be among those hurt in Saturday's incident. It comes days after several people were killed in clashes that erupted in the capital, Bangkok, when police began clearing protest sites, BBC News reports.
