The Golden Triangle Universities in UK may appear in Kazakhstan
On November 22, Kazakh Science and Higher Education Minister Sayasat Nurbek met with visiting Nusrat Ghani, UK Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade, to debate science and higher education cooperation issues, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakh ministry’s press service.
In Astana, Nusrat Ghani is expected to participate in the intergovernmental commission between Kazakhstan and the UK.
The goal of the official visit to Kazakhstan is to deepen friendly relations and develop a partnership between the two nations.
During the meeting, they also discussed prospects for cooperation in the sphere of scientific research, exchange of practice and knowledge, and boosting educational programs.
Sayasat Nurbek stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of science and higher education noting the countries have rich scientific heritage and potential for cooperation in these spheres.
The UK Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade said the UK is interested in attracting a greater number of academic institutes, the UK universities. The KBTU, the international school of economics, and the Heriot-Watt branch at the ground of the Zhubanov University are the brightest examples of cooperation between the two states. She affirmed the country’s openness to unveiling the cluster of leading centres to attract new scientific research. The sides may also consider the foundation of the Golden Triangle Universities of the UK in Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh minister demonstrated the scientific achievements of Kazakh scientists such as the refined selenium of Bagdaulet Kenzhaliyev, the perfume of young scientist Gulzhan Tuzelbayeva, and the organic household chemicals of Yerbol Sagatov.
Following the meeting, the sides signed the memorandum of mutual understating in the sphere of science and higher education between the ministries of Kazakhstan and the UK.
