ASTANA. November 30. KAZINFORM The Silent Steppe Cantata, a joint Kazakhstani-American musical production by composer Anne LeBaron and tenor Timur Bekbosunov, will be performed at the Palace of Peace and Concord on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 17:00 in Astana, the press service of the US diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan reports.

The Silent Steppe Cantata Project is an artistic consortium, consisting of composer Anne LeBaron, tenor Timur Bekbosunov, and filmmaker Sandra Powers. Recipient of many awards, the project is a large-scale sonic portrait of Kazakhstan that encompasses a musical composition, The "Silent Steppe Cantata," and a documentary film, "The Nomad's Song." Featuring the music of Internationally renowned composer Anne LeBaron, along with tenor Timur Bekbosunov---emerging star of contemporary opera---and the critically-acclaimed work of filmmaker Sandra Powers, the "Silent Steppe Cantata" has been singled out by the Kazakh media and press as one of the most important contemporary musical events currently taking place in Central Asia. The celebrated Sary-Arka Folk Instrument Orchestra, with the Chamber Choir of the Astana Philharmonic Society, will present the official premiere of the "Silent Steppe Cantata."
