There are likely no Kazakhstanis among survivors in Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash

Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev, who is currently in Aktau, spoke about the details of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash with Tengrinews.kz correspondent.

As Bozumbayev said, the number of those killed in the crash currently stands at 38.

29 survivors, including two children, are in hospitals, of whom 11 in serious but stable condition and the rest are in moderately serious condition, said Bozumbayev.

The Deputy Premier was also asked about Kazakhstani nationals among those survived.

There is a woman, whose identity is yet to be found. She’s unconscious, there are no documents. There are no Kazakhstanis among 29 survivors; there were six Kazakhstanis (onboard), including two children, said Bozumbayev.

According to him, the investigation is underway under the supervision of Kazakhstan’s General Prosecutor’s Office as well as the Interior Ministry and aviation authorities.

The Azerbaijan Airlines plane, which was operating a flight en route Baku-Grozny, crashed Wednesday morning near Kazakhstan's Aktau city.

The government commission headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev began its work at the crash site of the plane.

As was reported, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reported to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the current situation related to the passenger plane crash near Aktau.

Upon Kazakh President Tokayev’s instruction, an ambulance aircraft left Astana headed to Aktau.

It was reported that President Tokayev tasked to set up a state commission in connection with the plane crash.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev cut short his trip to Russia due to the plane crash.

Earlier, Kazinform News Agency presented the preliminary list of passengers onboard the crashed plane.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his condolences to Azerbaijan’s President Aliyev following the incident.

It was previously informed Kazakh Emergency Situations Minister Chingis Arinov arrived in Aktau.
