Third book of Ilyas Yessenberlin’s trilogy “Nomads” presented in Brazil
On the occasion of Independence Day and as part of the "Kazakh Library in Brazil" project, the third volume of the The Nomads trilogy by Ilyas Yessenberlin – Khan Kene, translated into Portuguese, was presented in Brasília, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.
The first volume titled The Enchanted Sword, was released in 2022, followed by the second, Despair, in 2023. During the event, the historical film The Kazakh Khanate: The Diamond Sword was also screened.
Organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brazil, with the support of the Kazakhstan-Brazil Friendship Forum and the National Library of Brasilia, the event was attended by heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Brazil, representatives of academic and cultural institutions, and local mass media.
In his remarks, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil, Bolat Nussupov, highlighted the key historical moments of the formation of the Kazakh state that are present in Yessenberlin’s literary legacy. He emphasized that the The Nomads trilogy occupies a special place in Kazakh literature, being the first national work to artistically interpret the history of the Kazakh people over a long historical period.
The Brazilian participants showed great interest in the history of the formation of the first Kazakh state, emphasizing that the work reflects the spirit of the times, characteristic of the steppe civilization and the development of national identity. They also highlighted the importance of Yessenberlin’s work in the history of Kazakhstan, his contribution to the development of Kazakh literature and the impact of his works on the formation of patriotism and national consciousness.
Welcome speeches were given by Edélcio Américo, the Executive Director of the Kazakhstan-Brazil Friendship Forum and translator of the work into Portuguese; Marmenha Rosário, Director of the National Library; Ulisses Riedel de Resende, President of the Planetary Union of Brazil; and Felipe Ramon, Undersecretary of Cultural Heritage of the Federal District.
