According to the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zaure Akhmetova, no local cases of cholera have been recorded in Kazakhstan over the past decade. However, imported cases continue to be registered annually, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Akhmetova revealed that three imported cases of cholera from India had been registered among the citizens of the Russian Federation and Kyrgyzstan. “These individuals had been on a tourist trip to India,” she told a press briefing at the Central Communications Service.

The sanitary and epidemiological service conducted anti-epidemic prophylactic measures and disinfection of the aircraft. A total of 594 contact persons were examined, with 104 close contacts undergoing antibiotic prophylaxis.

Additionally, Akhmetova stated that the infected passengers arrived on various flights at different times.
