Three Peaks: Central Asia's largest project to bring EUR 146 mln to Kyrgyzstan

Construction of the largest ski resort in Central Asia – Three Peaks project - will begin in Kyrgyzstan, tentatively, in May of this year, Director of the Kyrgyz Courchevel state enterprise Zharkynbek Maksutov said in an interview with Kabar News Agency.

He said that design and estimate documentation for infrastructure facilities is being developed now. Construction of the first phase will be completed in December 2026 and the resort will be able to receive the first tourists. The project consists of three stages: Zhyrgalan, Bozuchuk and Ak-Bulak.

“This ski resort will create unique conditions and become the largest ski cluster in Central Asia. The total length of ski tracks will be 250 kilometers, with 120 kilometers of ski tracks in Zhyrgalan.

In addition to unique infrastructure for skiers, the project will take into account the cultural peculiarities of the region - a mosque decorated with Kyrgyz ornaments will appear in Zhyrgalan,” the project director said.

The master plan was developed by European specialists. Currently, it is being developed by the State Construction Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In addition, the construction of three-star hotels consisting of 8 buildings will begin this year, while construction of four- and five-star hotels will be offered to investors.

“At the first stage, 49 hotels will be built in Zhyrgalan, united in a single ethno-town, with hotels of 3, 4 and 5 stars category. The tallest building will consist of 6 floors,” Maksutov noted.

The resort will be oriented to both middle class and high class tourists, and everyone will be able to find a place for rest depending on their budget. It will be able to receive 850 thousand tourists a year. It will create 4600 jobs, which will have a positive impact on the economy of the surrounding villages and districts, giving local farmers the opportunity to supply their products to the resort area.

The total area of the resort is 3874 hectares. The area of the townships will be 58 hectares in Zhyrgalan, 24 hectares in Ak-Bulak and 39.7 hectares in Bozuchuk.

“The resort will also have all the necessary conditions for comfortable recreation: spa complexes, restaurants, stores, ethno-towns. Within four seasons, tax revenues from the project will amount up to EUR 146 million”, Director of the Kyrgyz Courchevel added.

In an interview with Kabar News Agency, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the launch of the ambitious project will become a new economic engine of the country, comparable in importance to the Kumtor project.

“This is the construction of the Three Peaks ski complex. If today the famous Issyk-Kul with the Kumtor provides the whole country, this resort will be its worthy successor and the second Kumtor,” the Kyrgyz leader noted.

As written before, Kyrgyzstan plans to open new tourist bases.
