Kazakh Senate Speaker Ashimbayev calls for efficient dialogue to address challenges of today

A delegation of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament led by Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev paid a visit to Tajikistan. During the visit, the Kazakh delegation had a meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, participated in the international parliamentary conference, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of Tajikistan, as well as held bilateral meetings with CIS parliamentarians, Kazinform News Agency reports.

During the meeting with the Tajik President, Ashimbayev conveyed greetings from Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan. It was noted that the efficient cooperation between the two countries builds on friendly relations and trust-based dialogue.

Addressing the conference, the Kazakh Senate Speaker highlighted the importance of mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.

Regular meetings at high and highest levels, active political dialogue and productive cooperation in different areas – all of these demonstrate a dynamic development and huge potential of Kazakh-Tajik relations. They also include trade and economic ties, cultural and education projects, joint initiatives in environmental and other spheres. Kazakhstan and Tajikistan have established the most trusting and fruitful working relationships. The visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Tajikistan this August and the agreements reached once again proved it. So, during the visit, the historic Treaty on Allied Relations between our nations was signed. This key document opens for us new horizons, lays a foundation for further expansion of multilateral cooperation between our countries, said the Kazakh Senate Chairman.

Ashimbayev also noted the role the conference plays in discussing the issues of constitutional law and the importance of interparliamentary cooperation to address pressing issues.

Interparliamentary cooperation serves as one of the key instruments to enhance ties between our nations, share experiences and develop common solutions to pressing issues. Today’s challenges require from us an efficient dialogue and joint search for legislative mechanisms in response to both ongoing and future global changes, he said.

Kazakh Senate Speaker also held a meeting with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, discussing the results of the work of the Cooperation Commission and the possibility of signing a new Roadmap for 2025/26.

During the meeting with Rustam Emomali, the areas of work on the Turkestan Declaration, which aims at greater interparliamentary ties, were discussed. Both sides agreed on the importance to focus on economic development and addressing current challenges.

Congratulating Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, on her reelection, Ashimbayev noted the historic ties and mutual respect between the two countries. Ashimbayev expressed hope for Azerbaijan’s participation in the Congress of Religious Leaders in 2025.

Ashimbayev also had meetings with other heads of parliamentary delegations on the sidelines of the conference.
